Community-owned energy assists in addressing issues of energy affordability within communities.

In partnership with SAFE, Six Tufts University students researched and developed a report, Bringing Power Home: Exploring Community-Owned Energy Possibilities in Salem. This project provided a case study report of community owned energy strategies and a guidebook towards advancing community owned energy in Salem. The goal is to center community involvement.
In an effort to begin introducing community owned energy strategies to the Salem community, SAFE’s intern from Tufts University wrote a series of blog articles.

SAFE will continue collaborating with Tufts University. Working with Denisse Manzo Gonzalez, SAFE is exploring popular education on public power for our community.
We plan to host community forums utilizing Denisse’s work. This will allow for resident engagement in the conversation.
